Crossings Outing Day at Burnlaw Centre
March 16th marked a memorable Crossings Outing Day at Burnlaw Centre enabled by Tim and Gary who sponsored us with their inspiring venue and Kimberley and Jess who raised the funding for the event, with Kimberley arranging all the transportation.
Tim and Gary have kindly welcome us right from the coach, warming us up with cups of tea and their engaging life stories and the various activities happening at Burnlaw Centre.
Feeding the cows, climbing up a wood-house-to-be, making a wish under the Wishing Tree, having fresh home-made soup, getting together and singing in the Temple of Unity are all the unforgettable experiences with each and every Crossings member.
Crossings has recently appointed a part-time Development Manager, Andrew Tinkler, funded by The Newcastle Fund. His brief is to help us take the organisation forward, extending our work of celebrating diversity; broadening our impact and audiences; enabling and supporting Crossings’ members’ integration into the community in Newcastle. Watch this space.
Crossings' weekly sessions are held on Mondays at The Holy Biscuit, 1 Clarence Street, Newcastle, NE2 1YH (choir during term time only).
It's free and fun. All are welcome.
Exciting new development! The choir are inviting younger children (who are normally in the free crèche) to sing with their mothers for the first half hour of the choir session.
· Women and children of all ages sing from 4.45 – 5.15 p.m. followed by a free crèche for younger children.
· Women’s choir from 5.15 – 6 p.m. followed by refreshments.
· Open music sessions (including song-writing, instrumental tuition on a range of instruments) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with free creche from 6 p.m. to 7.15 p.m.
Travel costs are available to those who need them, by arrangement with Crossings.
The Holy Biscuit is just off Stoddart Street, opposite The Biscuit Factory. It is a few minutes’ walk from Manors metro, New Bridge Street (many buses), and Sandyford Road (no 1 bus).
