What we are: Crossings is a non-profit community music project in Tyneside (Newcastle, Gateshead, etc), bringing together people seeking asylum, refugees and local musicians, to exchange, share and develop their music.
The project offers a creative welcome to refugees and to those seeking asylum, providing them with an opportunity to share their culture with others, to develop new musical skills and to interact with local musicians, creating new collaborative music out of the interaction.
Members of the committee, who came together through this research, are all either asylum seekers, refugees or are/have been involved in working with them.
What we do: The Crossings Band brings diverse musicians together. Free to join! See the Band page for more details.
The Singing Group is also free and is open to all women. See the Singing Group page for details.
