The Crossings Band is drawn from members of the open music session and choir. It meets weekly to practise, and band members come from all parts of the world. Some of them are refugees or are seeking asylum, others have settled here as practising musicians and yet others are students and local amateur musicians. All are united by their passion for making music, and want to share their traditions and learn from each other.

Band members bring their own unique music to the band, and work together to create dynamic new musical compositions and fusions. They intend to tour their music round different communities across Tyne and Wear, to demonstrate the value of collaboration across cultures and to show how much people from different cultural backgrounds can learn from each other and welcome new opportunities to perform and share their music.
